WORLD MEGAMARATHON RANKING 300+

TExt

Welcome to the home of the World Megamarathon Ranking 300+. We are not a running club; there are no dues and nobody is trying to sell you a T-shirt.  Instead, we are a group of runners who happen to enjoy running marathons (26.2 miles) and ultras (any distance longer than a marathon) and will go to the ends of the earth to run them...and we run them often. In fact, the runners on this list have run more sanctioned marathons/ultras than anyone else in the world. We represent a mere 0.0000000427% of the people on this planet. More people have orbited the earth in outer space, and more climbers have summited Mt. Everest than have completed the 300 or more marathons/ultras required to have been included on this list.

This ranking is for information purposes only...created to inspire greater goals and to fuel the competitive nature within us all. While we don’t pretend that this is the complete and definitive list of runners that have achieved this milestone, we strive to make the list as accurate as possible, and rely on the good faith and integrity of each runner to present a true accounting of his or her achievements.

A bit of history about the World Megamarathon Ranking 300+ :

A few years ago, Takatoshi Yoshino of Japan, who is General Secretary for the Full Hyaku Club  (aka 100 Marathon Club of Japan) asked Tom Adair, who was a member of the Full Hyaku Club and the President of the 50 (US) States Marathon Club, to assist him in developing and preparing a World Megamarathon Ranking list for marathon and ultra runners with 300 or more marathon and ultra finishes.  Tom agreed to help collect data for runners in the USA…and helped to enlist coordinators from around the world to do the same for Mr. Yoshino. Tom did so for over two years until I assumed the role of the North American Coordinator.

Please pass my contact information on to any runner that you know who has reached a career total of 300, or who is approaching 300 combined marathons and ultras (i.e. 280, 290, 295, etc).  Passing the “word” about the World Megamarathon Ranking list is the best way to expand the list.

Congratulations for your remarkable achievements.

See the bottom of the ranking for an explanation of each column.

For clarification purposes, column #3 is for the counting method which uses “M” or “F” (see further clarification below).  Column #6 is for the sex which uses 1 = male and 2 = female.

About column #3 on the World Megamarathon Ranking list.

F means Marathon, and M means Megamarathon.  In Japan we usually call Marathon as “Full” Marathon. This may be a local custom.

There are many running races in Japan, and people call it a marathon even though it may be a ten kilometer race.

To distinguish races between 42.195km and other, we usually add the word FULL to Marathon.

Over 42.195km distance race, we call it ULTRA Marathon.

The runner who counts his or her race numbers only with their Marathon races represents F, and the runner who counts Marathon and Ultras altogether represents M.
